The puppies have arrived.. WHAT A DAY!
I had Journey at the vet for a checkup yesterday morning instead of the evening, as she was so agitated and I was sure that labour was starting. He confirmed that the cervix was opening, and moved her C-section up a day. They operated at 10am, and I was able to take the pups home at 11am, but Journey had to stay at the vet. Her blood pressure had dropped considerably, and they needed to put her on a drip.
Pups got settled at home and I managed to do 2 feeds between them sleeping. They are quite active, and at least took the the bottle reasonably well. They love the heating pad! I fetched Journey in the afternoon, and she was still totally out of it for the rest of the day. She needed a little cleaning up, and pups snuggled, but didn't manage to drink off her much - the milk was slow to appear. By last night they were drinking better. she is not impressed!
This morning their weights are down, which is a little stressful, but hopefully they pick up today. I will keep up the supplementing as well until they are picking up nicely.
