They also have a new tunnel!
To all the prospective puppy owners, I thought that you would like to see the photographs, videos, and updates of the Mackland puppies while they are still with me. These Border Collie & Shetland Sheepdog puppies are lovingly bred and raised in my home. This blog lets me show you step by step how your baby is raised. It highlights each step from mating to 8 weeks old. I hope that you all enjoy reading about them as much as I enjoy having them in my house!

BERRIES: 9 weeks
The Berries are mostly settled in their homes. I have 1 more girlie to send (Friday).
PLEASE keep a look out for kennel cough. Black girl definitely has it and Blue girl has started with a little cough. It's not serious and does not need to be medicated, but it is horrible to listen to and have baby have a sore throat.
As the vet explained, there are little "hairs" in the throat which helps to clear mucous & saliva, and with this infection, they are compromised, and the mucus/ saliva sticks in the throat and the pups cough to get rid of it.

The COLOURS are 5 weeks today!
Here is a note from Sam that has the COLOURS litter:
Pups
are 5 weeks old today!
They
are spending all day outside and come in at about 6pm. They are eating 3 meals
a day with some of mommy’s milk inbetween.
At
the moment I am finding it a bit tricky to assess them as they are all fairly
similar in temperament. It is still early days so will keep the updates coming.
They
are all very friendly pups and love all the visitors that they have met. Every
day when I sit in their pen, they come running and climb all over me, like a
jungle gym.
They
are all very playful but at the moment purple girl plays non-stop. While the
others sleep she is busy looking to get up to some kind of mischief. She
loves to tug a bit more than the others. BUT they all little terrors, shredding
newspaper and looking for escape routes.
They
have been introduced to some sounds. I tap their metal food bowl at meal times
and they learned that sound very quickly. They now coming running for their
food.
I
introduced a plastic packet today, all were inquisitive to see what it was.
None of them shied away.
I
also have my landlord working at my house and I was home while he was drilling,
they were not bothered by the noise at all.Oh... and they are definitely used to barking, I have a few noisy dogs.
They
have met some of my dogs and all they want to do is play.
I
will be moving their sleeping area tonight so we can start with some house
training. I have a small plastic grass patch in their pen and most of them have
started going there to toilet. So that is a good sign!
5
week pics will be done this evening, so keep an eye in the blog!!

BERRY Assessments: 8 weeks
All pups are doing well. We have kennel cough in the area, and I had a girlie clearing her throat, so off to the vet on Sunday for anti-biotics. I am treating ALL pups, just as a precaution. If they get it, it's not a train smash (it's like a cold), but it is unfortunate that on the week of the pups going to their new homes, they could be infected. So if anyone wants to wait and get their pups a week later, I understand... but the vet has given clearance for pups to travel, as long as I let the new owner know that it is possible that they can come down with it when in their new homes because of a 3-10 day incubation period.
Assessments at 8 weeks:
Green
Still a softie, but definitely more playful than a week ago! A very beautiful boy, with a stunning head and bone, a sweet expression and very friendly. Gets flattened by the girls in a scuffle :)
Red
Mister innovative! He can escape any pen I put up. Very playful and very much a forward little boy. Wants to do stuff all the time and loves attention. Doesn't stand back if he is picked on! My working pick boy.
Yellow
Still my breed pick, a very sweet girl, soft nature, playful. She is put together very nicely, and has a lovely head and expression. She's friendly and loves cuddles!
Blue
My liveliest puppy when it comes to playing! She is spunky and carries things around, makes up games for herself and tugs up a storm. She loves interaction with people. My working pick girl. She seems quite athletic.
Black
Also a nice pup to interact with on a working level, a very pretty and moderate-sized girl. Plays, but without the same gusto as Blue. A sweet natured puppy, that seems to be a great all-rounder.
Pink
A cute little package, playful and sweet, similar to Black in many ways, just a little smaller. Very friendly and lives for cuddles.
White
Still the lunatic in the litter! She is a feisty little thing that needs discipline and rules but she will work like a dream! Not for a beginner! She is fast and agile and very forward.
