I had just put the pups to bed when Sam rocked up to come and cuddle them!
To all the prospective puppy owners, I thought that you would like to see the photographs, videos, and updates of the Mackland puppies while they are still with me. These Border Collie & Shetland Sheepdog puppies are lovingly bred and raised in my home. This blog lets me show you step by step how your baby is raised. It highlights each step from mating to 8 weeks old. I hope that you all enjoy reading about them as much as I enjoy having them in my house!

Measurements
This is our measuring wall - pups are stacked against the wall and a mark made at the withers, then the mark is measured from the floor.
The first measurement for the Wings:
mm (inches)
Sheltie sizes
It is very difficult to gauge what size a Sheltie will be as an adult... and very difficult to breed the "perfect dog". They change so much and sizes vary to a HUGE degree!
So breeders like to use charts to keep track of their pups' growth - it's in no way fool proof, but does seem an accurate enough guide. I will be measuring my pups from 6 weeks and making a note of weekly measurements (then monthly measurements until they are adults, to see the finished size).
Ideally the first measurement (at 6 weeks) needs for be between 17 and 20cm in order to have the best shot at a good size. Here's hoping!
I will be doing the WINGS officially this evening.....
6 week vet check - WINGS
The Wings have had their first vet check, and passed with flying colours. He said the pups look SUPER! They were also dewormed again, and had their microchips inserted - not a peep!!! Also, for their inoculations - they were as good as gold! Then they were back home in no time (not that Journey even noticed) - but G did inspect them all over :)

Update
The moms are being spoiled with liver and rice again this week. Journey is still chancing it... I am only giving her these special treats if she feeds her babies twice in 1 day... hehehe If she runs off, then sorree-not-sorree....! G is eating whatever she likes still!
I have been doing some sound sensitivity exercises. All the pups are okay with flapping packets, waving sacks, clanging metal and clanging glass bottles. Some of the sweets are still a little nervous of traffic noise.
The Wings are all very playful. Girl 1 is a bit of a thug and Girl 2 very bouncy. The boy is serious but starting to get playful now too.
The 2 most playful Sweets are Blaze and Flame. Coffee and Shade are more serious and Treasure is a little shy.
