Update

The pups have all calmed down and there is hardly a peep from them. They love the bathroom and potter around happily rearranging the toys and newspapers, and swimming in the water dish. Chakotay pops in now and again to clean and feed them, but she seems to be taking it easy as well. It's just been too hot here to do anything!

This evening we had a light rain (it's still hot, though!) so our plans at a nice outside pen were thwarted.. but we will see what tomorrow brings. All the bits and pieced are at the door ready to be built in the yard for Chak and the 3 musketeers.

I am looking at registered names.... the black girl is sorted with a cute name.... but I reckon that whoever takes the red boy will have to think about calling him Teddy! He is SO much like a teddy bear right now, with his fluffy face, his friendly little smile and his cuddly nature... hehe then I have a few ideas for a registered name that goes with that.

Breakfast in the bathroom

Their new favourite spot!!

Silence..!

Finally! I have found a suitable distraction for the pups... the bathroom! They like the bathroom!!!

I have turned the whelping box around, with the door facing the bathroom so that they can climb out and flop around on the tiles :)

They are currently lying like spatchcock chickens cooling their tummies!

Evening Pen

I have put up a little pen in the lounge, and the pups had an outing this evening! They met my shelties through the fence.... The Aussies weren't allowed near the pen.............
It's so hot here they love the fan!

Sunday Update

The kittens have gone to their foster home, and the pups have the box to themselves again. They have been so good, and I am gettind sleep! Chakotay left them for quite a while today and they slept quietly.

The girls have teeth!! I couldn't believe it this evening when I felt them! But the boy is still a sea of gums :)

It's so sweet, the pups are starting to play! They stalk each other and pounce/ dive/ roll.... they have little barks to get each other's company, and little growls while they play!

There are now 3 toys in the whelping box and they seem to like the challenge of dragging them around.. poor hedgehog, father christmas and pink flamingo!

Unfortunately pups were sleepy in the 3 week pics but I will get some better ones soon.

6 "Puppies"

We had a small emergency today, and Chak came to the rescue.

Sam and I were taking pics of Bounce and Tide in St Georges Park, Central, this afternoon, and we heard about some kittens that may have been dumped nearby, so we went to see. We found the box of teeny kittens screaming under a tree near the river. They look about 2-3 weeks old and were starving. Sam contacted CatCare but the bottle-feeder was only available from tomorrow, so we brought them to Chakotay. They had a good feed and Chakotay is so protective of them!

Pink

If anyone is wondering about the pinky tinge to the pup's faces and front paws... it's because if Chak's tummy.

Her caesar wound is all nicely healed but the area around it is eina and red. I'm treating it every day, but it's in the folds between the rows of the teats and she sweats, and it stays moist no matter how much I clean it out and dry it..

..and of course the pups INSIST on putting their paws and faces in there and scrounging around!

So we will just have to live with pink puppies for a while :)
