Weights at 5 weeks

Bedtime

And this is what the pups are up to at night when they are supposed to be sleeping...

Goat's milk..

Why goat’s milk is so convincing within the context of dog nutrition
Natural source of high-quality proteins, vitamins, minerals and trace elements
Rich in natural Vit A and essential fatty acids
Very good tolerance and palatability
Positive, regenerating effect on the intestinal flora and immune system
Supports the acid-base balance as an alkaline producer
Why is goat’s milk so good for puppies?
Dog’s milk contains a high degree of protein and in particular fat, which cannot be substituted to the same
degree by any other milk. When compared with cow’s milk, goat’s milk has a higher degree of fat which is
very good for puppies, when considered from a nutritionally physiological point of view.
What is more, the shares of natural vitamins and minerals, and here in particular the Vit A and calcium share,
is considerably higher than that of cow’s milk. It is because of these reasons that the rearing results of goat’s

milk appear to be so convincing.
For many decades already, when rearing the puppies of herd guarding dogs, goat’s milk has traditionally
been used as a substitute for dog’s milk.
Also in daily practice, goat’s milk is tried and proven for the rearing of motherless puppies and as

supplementary nutrition with larger litters.
Growth, immune system stability and the digestion of puppies that were fed with goat’s milk could be
influenced in a highly positive manner.
Goat’s milk contains fewer allergens than cow’s milk and has a highly positive, regenerating effect on the
intestinal flora.

We're onto pellets!

Here are some pics of this morning's early morning pellet dash.. and DASH for it they did! It went so well that we will no longer be using the liquidizer! I softened the pellets with warm water, and they scoffed an entire bowl of it! (These are Royal Canin Junior pellets)

Training!

As soon as the weather lets up later, the 3 musketeers can go outside and slosh in the puddles.... when they are nice and tired (and filthy), we will be starting some "training".... I hope they like peanut butter!!

(and those of you that will be working your pups, please don't have a heart attack, we are just doing some stationary position work.. hehehe)

I am hoping they will stand for us for the 6-week pictures.... :)

Pups meeting the other dogs - video :)

I got these clips on Friday....

Black girl is so funny, she keeps falling, and rolling down the slope of the garden, red girl is a thug, and red boy chuffs off and collects leaves all the time. It's cute to note that when they fall or run into something, they sneeze about 10 times in a row! The sheltie interacting with the pups is not Q.. it is Tide, believe it or not (this is not his style to be so sweet). Mom and Finn are clearly just on their own mission to PLAY...

All 3 pups

Sorry, everyone, this is the best I could do with 3 MAD puppies that wouldn't sit still (this was photo no 100!)

Plop in the night...

I woke to a loud "plop" in the night followed by some urgent squeals....

Black girl had managed to escape from the high side of the whelping box and couldn't get back in... hehehehe

The box is turned so that there is a low side aimed at the bathroom door, so, should they want to climb in and out to their "free" area, they end up in the right place.. they climb the low section and ooze over, and plop onto the bathroom floor... but the poor boy is always last - I think because he has an extra"appendage" and as he is oozing over the board 'it' hooks and he gets stuck there until someone else comes and shoves him over haha

Today is the first full day they will spend outside. It is overcast and cooler and they are in their pen, romping around, dragging toys and yanking on grass!

When I am watching them, I let them loose on the lawn outside the pen - they love Finn and she plays so nicely with them, but if someone focuses on her tummy (to find a teat), its TICKETS to her - she flies back inside in fright, she's having none of that! Another of their favourites is Tide (surprisingly, as he is a nerd) - he is so gentle and patient and somehow gets all 3 to follow him like the pied piper (I think he's showing them around!)

Favourite snooze-place!

Sorry for the terrible picture!

The pups are loving the RC mousse!
Here are a few pics of them digging in, and then a video below of them scoffing it!

Who said breeding was CHEAP??

Observations...

Okay I am starting to watch more closely for traits that will suit the prospective new owners...

They seem to change daily. Yesterday the pups went out onto the lawn and were a little reserved feeling the new surface under their paws. But they quickly adjusted and were running around like mad, often stumbling and face planting in the grass. They seem to love the cooler areas and spread out with their tummies touching the grass :)

They spent this afternoon in a pen under a tree and when I tried to take them inside they scattered. Once back in their en-suite, they screamed to go back out, little buggers!

I am feeding them the RC starter mousse once a day, and Chak's feeding them the rest of the time. I will start with mushed puppy food soon.

The little black girl seems to have the best bone of the 3 pups. She likes to wander off on her own and explore things in the background. She likes to carry leaves around.

The red girl loves coming to me and bounces around trying to play. The little bugger bites (will have to stop that!) OW. She is starting to tug with clothes and any material.

The red boy is still ever so sweet, but a cry baby. He thinks he is smart and crawls into tight spaces and corners and screams when he gets stuck... pot plants, chairs, x-pen corner, trees, the basin pedestal,  you name it... He follows red girl and copies her when she picks up toys.

I will see what the rest of the week brings!

Weights @ 4 weeks

Afternoon outing

Today is the day they spend a few hours outside. They have a pen in the front yard for the afternoon - made up of a high x-pen, linked to a low pvc fence for Chak to hop in and out, and a covered crate at the back door for snuggling. Within 5 minutes Chak had stolen the crate and abandoned her igloo on the outside!

Tugging....

So... this is what tugging is about!??

The lawn

The pups made it onto the lawn this weekend! They got the feel of the grass, and started RUNNING!

Thanks, Sam, for this little clip of the reds trying to play with an oversized toy:
