First time on grass!

The pups went outside today. I have a small run that I let them loose in - they LOVED it! There is a small shady area, a crate with bedding and a nice grassed area for them to explore. Mom also has a houndsleeper that she can relax on...

The microchips have arrived!

These will be inserted when the pups are 6 weeks old.

Breakfast piggies!

Excuse the mess... they were a rowdy bunch last night and I hurried to do their breakfast... As a result the pellets weren't 100% soft - but they managed!!! They drank the slop then guzzled the chunky bits!
I only changed their newspaper AFTER breakfast because they walk through the food....

The rest of the pups were already asleep when I tossed the toys in. I thought they would wake up later and see them... but a couple of them saw me and decided to start now!

Update

Update on the pups....
I will be in Johannesburg for 6 days, so posts will be limited (if my phone will let me post news from my puppy-sitter!)


The pups are doing SO well.. they are a FEISTY bunch, with Mr Bandit leading the pack... growly, growly little arguments go on in the box! They have also started screaming for poor Finn when she has left them too long (they were little angels, hardly making a peep until now)...


They seem to like the newspaper now, and prefer it over the bedding during the day. But the nights are getting colder and they SNUGGLE in the blankets!


I will weigh them tonight as we will miss the Friday weigh-in.


I have my camera set up in the room so that I can see the babies and Finn from Johannesburg :)

Thanks to Sam and Sam for coming over to help with the nails (ok they did ALL of them!) All pups' nails are now short so that mom doesn't get scratched to ribbons!

Present for the puppies for the weekend!

The pups are in for a surprise this weekend! We have a little puppy pee pad for them to start getting used to surfaces. I will make their area a little bigger, and add this green jobbie.. perhaps they will even pee on it :)

2 Weeks!

The pups are 2 weeks! Today is the first deworming day... not looking forward to that mess later!

Day 11

The pups all have little slits for eyes now... Two of the pups are actually peeping - Jane and Puzzle! Their eyes should be all the way open tomorrow and the rest should start then too. They are all reacting to the light when I put it on in the room!

Here are 2 little videos of supper time this evening. We will take proper photos on Friday, and I will upload them on Friday night.

All the pups are walking around much easier now. And black girl was the first to sit up! I will be adding some little toys this weekend for them to bump into and for them to start getting the feel of different items.

Here you can see the pups being more mobile. Mom had just left the box, so they were performing a little.. this is a little display of puppy tantrums hehe

Dewormer

This has just arrived...

The pups are due to be dewormed next Friday (22 April), and I decided to try a new dewormer. The liquid dewormer that I used previously made such a mess, and it is so easy to waste. I decided to ask a few breeder friends what they use, and most prefer Panacur. I note that it comes in a paste, so we will try it for this litter!
